Malfunctioning equipment within a mechanical setting
can result in harm to personnel, catastrophic damage to components and
systems, while incurring costly unscheduled downtimes. A damaged
refractory cannot be detected using the naked eye from the exterior of
the vessel, and the failure of a furnace can happen very quickly often
resulting in the destruction of the entire system. In almost every
mechanical system or refractory, excessive heat is a sure sign that
something isn’t operating the way it should be and that trouble is on
its way. Why not use the problem of too much heat and turn it into a
solution by using infrared technologies and services from Barak?

Almost any type of equipment can be properly
inspected through the use of thermography to ascertain to what degree it
is operating and whether or not its current operation is causing itself
or the equipment around it damage. The use of the right IR camera,
diagnostic software, an proficient Barak thermographer, and the
experience of plant operators who have an intimate understanding of how
different components and machines work are all fundamental elements that
lend to the success of any on-site survey or inspection.
Refractories and mechanical plants can be quickly and
thoroughly inspected by capturing thermal images of equipment during
their normal operational cycles, as well as during their start-up and
cool down phases. This will result in the accurate identification and
isolation of problem areas. While a necessary plan of action is put forth
to respond appropriately (whether it be to shut a system down or repair
or replace a part, test the system further etc.), to problem areas,
unnecessary damage and loss can be avoided.

Mechanical Inspections from Barak:
- Greatly reduces the risk of catastrophic equipment
breakdown, failure, and downtime;
- Can survey a wide range of mechanical and refractory
related systems from motors, pumps, drills, and rotating equipment,
cooling, overheating, and alignment problems;
- Are ideal for low speed rotating equipment inspections
such as for conveyers or other material handling systems where other
methods of inspection fail to provide clear results;
- Detect coke buildup in crude oil furnaces;
- Isolate Power Plant boiler flue gas leaks;
- Can test Mechanical bearing integrity;
- Determine Heat ventilation levels or Air conditioning
equipment;
- Detect Cold Storage leakage (cooling losses);
- Identify Refrigeration insulation leakages;
- Visualize thermal patterns on boiler tubes.
